Postal Pixs Love

Recently I ordered some Iphone photos from the PostalPix APP for the first time and thought I would share my experience with you. All in all I think the app is great, easy to use and the pictures mostly turned out great (as you can see from the photos below)!

By far my favorites are the square prints. You can pick from 4x4, 5x5 or 8x8. Since I use Instagram ALOT, the square prints are perfect. I only got 1 or 2 of the 8x8 square because they are $3.49 a piece...but totally worth is if you have a picture you really love.

Some of the 'regular' 4x6 or 5x9 prints I wasn't as impressed with...but that could also have been because my picture itself wasn't the best quality.

The APP is pretty easy to navigate and the prints came pretty quickly. I will definitely be ordering from them again. They also offer aluminum 'prints' that I really want to try next time around.

Hope this little review might have been helpful! If you have an Iphone and were thinking about ordering some prints....PostalPix is definitely a great APP to try! I have linked to their website above and/or you could just search that app on your phone. ;)

Have Fun!! xoxo Hollie

Inspiring Illustrations

It has been awhile since I have done an Inspiring Illustration Post! The illustrations in 'My Little Golden Book of Manners' are done by my absolute favorite...Richard Scarry !!! I plan on doing a big post about him sometime soon because he is just the coolest :) but for now I will just share a few pics of his from this sweet Golden Book.

Peggy Parish is the author of the story, which has a copyright of 1962. She is also the author of the Amelia Bedelia books which I just loved as a child. I also love that the first page acknowledges the 3rd Grade at the Dalton School, New York as 'Consultants' on the book :)

The book basically just gives practical advice on manners and the best way to act in different situations.

I think the Alligator and the Lion are my favorites! Just look how sweet he can make even the most ferocious animals look!

A giraffe in a sailor's suit!? Yes, Please!! ;)  Someday when I have children I think I will hang some of these illustrations in their rooms.

This Weekends Finds

Due to some home renovation projects going on this weekend I really only got to one sale but I got a couple pretty cool things there!

I got a couple of great vintage children's clothing pieces and a sweet little fabric suitcase
This coat is pretty awesome. It is a great tweed in bright colors. The one women at the sale let me know that her sister made this in a high school sewing class at least 35 years ago. It is in great shape and put together extremely well.
This little knit cape is just so sweet and gorgeous
I also got this milk crate, shoe form, glass bowls and another little children's sweater. Not bad for one sale!!

Wheezy Wednesday

Wheez has been in need of a bath for awhile now and last week we finally decided to pull ourselves together and get it done! Bathing her is no easy task! She is a heavy lady and NOT a fan of getting clean :) The picture below was taken right before bath time. You can see she is smiling and still happy....not realizing what is about to happen.

We took her to the 'Dog Wash'which is a little area at a local oil change and car wash place that has a room with a fancy dog washin machine ;) We took her here once before and it worked out pretty well because it gets the job done quicker and she is sort of confined and can't get away...lol.
As you can see from the bottom photo she isn't too thrilled. Two teeth sticking out means major grump and annoyance. BUT now a have a pretty, clean bulldog and after a couple treats she forgot All about her bath ;)

Thrilling Thrift - This weekends finds

Winter in Western PA means a scarcity of Estate and Garage sales. My mom and I (my thrifting partner in crime) were able to find an estate sale here and there this winter but now that spring has come around, the options have started to get better. On Saturday we were able to find several good sales and here is what I got!
These 4 items were picked up at a sale in Blairsville, PA (about 15 minutes from Delmont). A man has been selling items from a large shed in his front yard because he has collected so much over the years. He loves to travel to Peru and raises the money for plane tickets this way. Anyway, I just loved the kitty mail organizer and the world 'calendar' is a classic. The gnome isn't old BUT he is a great addition to my collection AND he lights up!! The man threw him in for free because according to him, it didn't really 'fit' in with his other items  :)
I am super excited about these 2 pieces because I plan on turning them in to Terrariums!! Both are great vintage pieces that will look so great turned in to little gardens :)
This is an old Levi's shirt. A find at a church tag sale.
These vintage kids books were all picked up at the church tag sale too. I LOVE vintage children's books if you haven't already guessed by past posts ;)
And these 2 pretty floral scarves that I have big plans for (see last post!)
I am getting super excited for garage sale season!! Have you found any goodies lately at estate or garage sales?

Easy Bedroom Update Revisited - Pretty Scarves

A few weeks ago I posted about my easy bedroom update (see here). Below are a few more picutres I took that day. I also felt that the bed needed some updating as well. It just didn't feel right letting the 'canopy' go to waste. I had added the pom pom's awhile ago but thought something else was needed. That is when I remembered I had this lovely scarf that I had purchased at the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market back in November.

Don't you just LOVE it?? I couldn't pass it up and knew it had to be displayed so the whole scarf could be seen.
I have been thinking of adding other scarves as well... Here are a few that I've been drooling over, all found via Etsy....

Spring/Summer Wardrobe

This is my Spring/Summer wardrobe wishlist.....Vintage edition. I think I have said it before and I will say it again - I totally admire the bloggers who incorporate pretty vintage dresses in to their everyday wardrobes. As you may know, I have been collecting and selling vintage housewares for quite a few years now but only recently became interested in vintage clothing. I have collected a nice amount to sell in Hollie Would Vintage but now think I want to start also collecting for myself. The thought sort of scares me. I have found a lot of pretty pieces on Etsy (as you will see below) but I am afraid I will buy it and it just won't fit right (even though I have taken my measurements, etc...). I think I am also afraid of the reaction I might get if I start wearing obviously vintage pieces. I am a pretty shy person so extra attention on myself makes me feel weird...lol. Does anyone have any advice for me and my worries?  :)
In the meantime, here are some dresses I love on Etsy. They are sitting there just waiting for me to work up the courage to buy one..... or return later to find that someone else has. That is normally the case :)

They are all super pretty, aren't they? I know the third dress probably wouldn't work for Spring/Summer but I just couldn't pass up the chance to share it! I will be sure to let you know if I end up purchasing anything! Or be sure to let me know if you end up buying one! I would love to see a picture :)
Find them here, here, here, here and here!
